Fashion Revolution Week

With no doubt this is a pivotal time to change our life and that includes our acquisition habits. Like? Well, to get started you can join the celebration of the week of the fashion revolution. Fashion Revolution Week is an event that has been taking place since 2016; with the intention of asking for greater transparency in the fashion supply chain by asking questions such as: Who Made my Clothes? or What’s in my Clothes.

The movement Fashion Revolution was born in response to the disaster of April 24, 2013 when the Rana Plaza building collapsed in Bangladesh; causing 1,138 deaths and another 2,500 injured, this is how Carrie Somers and Orsola de Castro, fashion designers in the UK, decide to found the day of the fashion revolution, making this disaster a catalyst for change in the industry.

Fashion Revolution Week will take place from 20 to 26 April. Check the calendar of events according to your country.

For Ecuadorian guys, I especially recommend visiting @fash_rev_ecuador since the movement has just been born in our country and needs our voice to grow.

At the moment this movement is also trying to be part of environmental change; as asking you about the origin of your clothes helps protect the rights of whoever builds your garment, but also helps clarify the processes they go through before reaching you.

Because to generate real change in the fashion system we must inform, educate ourselves and demand changes and transparency, but it is also necessary to make responsible purchasing decisions.
