A green approach with sustainable design

We want to talk to you today about the green approach: three sustainable design products. The development of sustainable design products never takes a break. Among the many gadgets offered on the market with a green approach, we have chosen three. They seem to us, each in its own field, interesting for the benefits they bring to the environment.

Mogu Acoustic’s Green Approach

The first is an acoustic panel: the Mogu Acoustic. The Mogu Acoustic collection marks a revolution for comfort in interior design. They are made from soft materials (similar to expanded mycelium derived from recycled textile waste). With unique technology, Mogu Acoustic panels are a sustainable solution dedicated to acoustic comfort.

They are designed to maximize comfort in noisy spaces such as restaurants, offices and stores. And they set a new standard in sound comfort for interior design. They are 100% circular products with an extremely virtuous production cycle. A green approach to sustainable design.

The Mogu Acoustic collection includes Wave, Kite, Fields Plain, and the Foresta Acoustic System acoustic panels, each of which combines functionality and “organic” beauty. In addition, due to the shape, the modular program allows for the most varied configurations.

White has always been the signature color of Mogu Acoustic panels, but the company has expanded the world of Mogu products with a new color palette to suit any type of project. The paint used for the panels is a two-component, water-based dispersion. It is free of heavy metals, with low VOC (paints labeled as “low-VOC” should contain less than 50 grams per liter of volatile compounds) and very low gloss.

Sustainable Design: Adidas RPT-02 SOL

Adidas RPT-02 SOL is a solar charging headset. This is not new. There have been similar products on the market for years, such as: calculators, keyboards, power banks.
What is special about this model is that it is self-powered thanks to Exeger’s Powerfoyle solar cells. The cells are invisible and embedded in the upper band of the headset. They are made partly from recycled plastic, with a maximum battery life of 80 hours.

With Adidas RPT-02 SOL, just one hour out on a sunny day is enough to generate three hours of music playback. If the day is also cloudy, you still have two hours of battery life for every hour spent outside. The headphones also recharge indoors under ambient light conditions. Just wear them in a well-lit environment and the cells will hold a charge.

When they are not in use, just leave them by the window for an hour so they add another full hour of battery life. The headphones feature active noise cancellation and are waterproof (IPX4 certification against sweat and splashes). What is certain is that with Adidas RPT-02 SOLs, we have the luxury of forgetting to charge them forever.

In addition, it was announced that Powerfoyle panels will also be introduced on a model of wireless earbuds (or rather their charging case). Blue Tiger also put a solar-charging headset on sale, while POC is selling the first bike helmet with a built-in light that uses the sun to recharge itself. In short, this technology has definitely taken off.

Peepoo bag

Designer Anders Wilhelmson, in collaboration with Camilla Wirseen and Peter Thuvander, developed the Peepoo bag. It is a single-use disposable toilet bag. And it is intended to improve hygienic conditions in developing countries.

The used bags are clean and safe to handle and remain odorless for at least 24 hours, which means they can be stored in proximity to homes. In addition, after two to four weeks, the treated feces can be used as a substance with high fertilizer value.

The purpose of sustainable design is to eliminate the negative impact of products on the environment. By focusing on intelligent and sensitive design, sustainable design products are created with a green approach.
Sustainable design approaches involve reducing the number of resources needed, the product life cycle, using renewable energy, and reducing pollutant emissions. This process is based on the careful selection of sustainable materials and life cycle design.
