LaQuerida organic cosmetics

Querida Remedios organic balsamic ointment is proof that there are ways to make organic cosmetics and sustainable products. We talked to Paula Rodriguez, the mind behind this innovative idea.

LaQuerida, a custom-made name

LaQuerida’s mission is to take care of people. Its founder, Paula Rodriguez, was inspired by her family history and childhood memories to create the brand’s ideology. “It’s a play on words: ‘LaQuerida’ is the one you love, you want, you desire. Hence Querida Remedios, our first product, is ‘a very dear remedy’; evoking with the name Remedios, also, the wisdom of grandmothers, whose knowledge is, like a gift, wrapped in a little jar, waiting to be opened.”

Always moisturized skin

Querida Remedios balsamic ointment is a natural and organic way to keep the skin smooth, soft, moisturized and cared for. Almost all of the ingredients are of natural origin and come from organic farming. The product has important certificates such as Bio-Vidasana and Bio Inspecta, which place it in the best categories of natural and organic cosmetics. You can learn more about this organic cosmetic product in more depth here.

Organic cosmetics composed of various essential and vegetable oils.

Carrot, lavender, palmarosa, geranium and immortelle essential oils are perfect to help the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin. They are indicated to help improve skin conditions such as rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, acne, herpes and various types of wounds. They also help cell regeneration. On the other hand, coconut, sweet almond and millepertuis vegetable oils help to recondition the skin after it has suffered an aggression, such as a burn, an irritation or a wound. It also contains Centella asiatica extract and Vitamin E.

The last of its ingredients is Beeswax, a necessary ingredient for the correct and effective formulation of the ointment; unfortunately, this makes it unsuitable for vegans. “While there are alternative waxes to beeswax, you have to take into account the type of effect you want to achieve. Among other things, they do not all have the same properties or the same melting point, which is important when it comes not only to formulating but also to packaging, which would lead to changes in the final product. There are specialized projects aimed at this type of public,” says Paula Rodríguez on this issue.

The philosophy; sustainable product and packaging

LaQuerida, as a brand, was born with the idea of imposing sustainability as a fundamental idea for the development of all its activities and products. “We start with simple ingredients combined in the right way,” Rodriguez says of sustainability. “Ingredients that create synergy and, when combined, enhance their effects, giving rise to something new, much bigger and more effective. The company is also concerned about the best human treatment: “We foster sustainable, close and as direct relationships as possible with our fellow travelers, to create cohesion, to create bonds that generate community, and that unite rather than separate, that create strengths”.

Querida Remedios packaging is also designed to be sustainable. It uses recycled paper, tinted glass and recyclable polypropylene indicated by the WHO for the preservation of this kind of product. There is only one thing in which Paula Rodríguez still sees room for improvement: “Perhaps the only thing we still have to improve is the use of renewable energies in our facilities. We will see as we go along, and whatever we can do to be more sustainable, we will do it.

New organic cosmetic options coming soon

Although, for now, Querida Remedios is the only organic cosmetics product that LaQuerida has available, the brand’s future plans include expanding the product range. “We already have other products formulated and tested,” Rodriguez explains. “It would seem that small details still need to be fine-tuned. The idea and desire is that as soon as the circumstances are propitious, to bring them to the market and keep growing the ‘Queridas’ family.” On the official website of LaQuerida, the Querida Remedios ointment is available. In person, it is also available at the Arenal chain of perfumeries, and in some very selected pharmacies.

When we asked Paula Rodriguez about the future of her brand, she is clear about her objectives: “To consolidate, to be known, to be tried and to gain strength to be able to include more products in the market in the same line. There are other “Dear Ones” in the pipeline wanting to get out there…”. Always having clear that natural cosmetics have nothing to envy to the artificial formulation: “Honoring what has always been simple and natural, what our ancestors used, fully convinced that what has always worked and that tradition is the secret of health, beauty and harmony”.
